MN' 55402 • 370-7000
January 28, 1988
Mr. David Childs
City Manager
St. Anthony Village
3301 Silver Lake Road
St. Anthony, MN 55418
Re: Petition for Variance and Necessary Conditional Use Permit
Dear Mr. Childs:
Due to a tremendous increase in volume, the two lane drive-up
at our Apache Office is no longer adequate to serve the needs
of our clients and at times, creates a local traffic problem.
Our solution would be to expand it to four lanes. Our present
• canopy extends out 16 ft. 4 in. from the northernly side of our
building, it covers the first drive-up lane and half of the
second lane. The total distance from the north side of the
building to the property line is about 62 ft. 10 in. The canopy
would need to be expanded by an additional 15 ft. 6 in. (total
31ft.10 in. ) if we were to be permitted to expand to four lanes.
The canopy would not cover the vehicles in the fourth lane, only
the drive-up island where the drive-up equipment would be located.
To accommodate the increase in canopy size, we request a 4 .ft.
variance from the 35 ft. setback now required. The first three
drive-up lanes would be 8ft. in width, the fourth lane would be
9 ft. in width, to accommodate wider vehicles. We would then
propose a 2 ft. wide buffer strip to separate the four drive-up
lanes from a proposed 12: ft. bypass and emergency vehicle .lane
as outlined on the enclosed sketch.
The layout as it extends outward from the side of the building
would consist of the following:
A. 10" curb space - canopy to cover
B. 8' drive lane - " It "
C. 2' 4" equipment island - " if "
D. 8' drive lane - " it "
E. 2' 4" equipment island - " " "
