He reiterated that the police would be paying close attention <br /> 6 to traffic speed on the new roadway. <br /> 7 Kenzie Terrace Pedestrian Signal Operational <br /> 8 Mr. Childs indicated great pleasure in announcing this project, <br /> 9 which, along with the St. Anthony Boulevard reconstruction project, <br /> 10 had been in the works for many years , had been completed that <br /> 11 morning. <br /> 12 Pure Water for St. Anthony by End of July <br /> 13 As anticipated, the pads and piping for the carbon filtration system <br /> 14 are being installed this week and by the time the carbon cylinder <br /> 15 installation and testing are completed, Well #3 should be ready. The <br /> 16 City should have all three wells in operation by the end of the <br /> 17 month, Mr. Childs reported. The Manager speculated now that they <br /> 18 know St. Anthony water is again as pure and drinkable as it was <br /> 19 before it was contaminated by runoff from the arms plant, people from <br /> 20 outside the City might again be showing up at the fire station with <br /> • 21 containers to get St. Anthony water. <br /> 22 Staff had' been able to negotiate the waiver necessary to meet H.U.D. <br /> 23 restrictions on the $150 , 000 CDBG funding for the project, Mr. Childs <br /> 24 added. <br /> 25 He was shooting for a christening ceremony with toasts in water <br /> 26 rather than champagne to be held just before the Council's July 26th <br /> 27 meeting, the Manager said. He hoped the occasion would merit the <br /> 28 amount of media attention it deserved because the "City is at last - <br /> 29 able to tell its residents and the whole world that St. Anthony once <br /> 30 again has good dri.nking water to offer its residents. " <br /> 31 Manager's Report Hits Intended Target <br /> 32 Copies of his latest Downgradient report had been distributed to the <br /> 3.3 Council and Mr. Childs reported satisfaction with the report he had <br /> 34 from the New Brighton Manager that the Army had not been too happy <br /> 35 to see his comments on the City's frustration with the Army's <br /> 36 footdragging related to a resolution of the City's water contamina- <br /> 37 tion problems. There were no Council suggestions that he should <br /> 38 moderate the tone of any future reports. <br /> 39 Manager Doesn't Foresee Any Radical Changes in City's #6 Fire Rating <br /> 40 After Inspection <br /> • <br />
