I` <br /> Planning Commission <br /> August 15, 1989 Meeting , <br /> page 3 <br /> • <br /> l Signage on Silver Lake Road - Vargas Sign - Status Report <br /> 2 Madden questioned staff findings regarding. the possible non-conformance of <br /> 3 the Vargas sign. The Acting City Manager advised that the sign has been <br /> 4 viewed by staff and the permit granted forit has been reviewed. The <br /> 5business owner had stated to staff he feels the sign meets the requirements <br /> stated in the sign approvals granted. Staff will monitor this sign regarding <br /> 8 its maintenance. <br /> 9 Recodification - Sign Ordinance <br /> 10 The Acting City Manager advised the Planning Commission members that the City <br /> 11 Attorney will be reviewing the sign ordinance when the City recodifies. The <br /> 12 City Attorney will contact the League of Minnesota Cities to commence a joint <br /> 13 effort for completing the ordinance recodification. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Survey of Kiwanis Club Members <br /> 17 Noting that many Kiwanis Club members are local business owners, Wagner will <br /> 18 be attending the August 16th Club-meeting with the intention of getting their <br /> 19 input regarding the present sign ordinance. Hansen had previously requested <br /> 20 staff to mail a copy of the City's sign ordinance to of the City's <br /> businesses. The Acting City Manager responded this presently is being. considered. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Montessori School - Violation of Sign Ordinance - Status Report <br /> • 2The Acting City Manager noted a letter had been sent to the Director of the <br /> 255 Montessori School advising him of the deadline for the removal of one of <br /> 26 their two signs. Minutes of the previous meetings had been reviewed and no <br /> �7 approval of two signs was mentioned or discussed. A number of Commissioners <br /> 28 then expressed their concern over the Dairy Queen sign which is in violation. <br /> �9 They stated their wish that the City Council would state their feelings on <br /> 30 the sign. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 33 PLANNING COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVE AT AUGUST 22ND COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 34 It was decided by the Commission that no representative of the Commission <br /> 35 need be present at the August 22nd Council Meeting. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 VII . ADJOURNMENT <br /> 39 Motion by Brownell , second by Wagner to adjourn the Planning Commission Meeting <br /> 40 at 8:07 P.m. .
