13
1 sign sitting on a trailer; a plywood sign at the front of
2 the building advertising "office space for rent" ; and a
3 banner on the building advertising "suite for rent . "
4 Commissioner Hansen noted that he has been bringing the
5 non-conforming signage to the attention of the City staff
6 for three months to no avail , and that, to his knowledge ,
7 the City has not received a request for a temporary permit .
8 Assistant VanderHeyden said she is aware of .the signs, not
9 aware of whether a temporary permit has been applied for,
10 but that the Public Works Director was supposed to have
11 received authorization 'to remove the monument sign.
12 Commissioner Hansen requested a written report about the
13 status of the Northgate signs and the Vargas sign on Silver
14 Lake Road in the Planning Commission ' s July meeting packet.
15
16 Chairman Madden inquired as to the status of the proposed
17 garage at Macalaster and Silver Lake Road. He wondered how
18 long the variance and the building permit continued in
19 effect . Assistant VanderHeyden said that she had been
20 unabale to find a time stipulation in the variance . While
21 she knew that structures could not be left unfinished for an
22 indefinite length of time, she did not know the actual
23 requirements of a building permit . She said she would
24 consult the Public Works Director about those matters .
25
26 Some surprise was expressed by Commission members that the
27 Pirino house on 33rd Avenue NE is occupied in its current
28 condition. Assistant VanderHeyden advised the Commission
29 that the residents are meeting with the Public Works
30 Director and are in the process of deciding whether or not
31 to take legal action against the City. She stated that the
32 residents have no definite plans at this time to build a
33 garage because of financial difficulties .
34
35 The Commission congratulated George Wagner, newly appointed
36 r.ember of the City Council . Commissioner Wagner will begin
37 his duties with the June 26 , 1990 Council meeting. The
38 Commission expressed its regret at losing Commissioner
39 Wagner, who has been a dedicated member of the Commission
40 for several years .
41
42 ADJOURNMENT
43
44 Motion by Hansen, seconded by Werenicz , to adjourn the
45 meeting at 9 : 26 p.m.
46
47 Respectfully submitted,
48
49 Doris Hoskin
50 Council Secretary
