I PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING 2 OCTOBER 10 , 1993 . 3 PAGE 12 4 5 6 Commissioner Franzese advised that Hennepin County is -7 collaborating with the Hennepin County Park Board to 8 accommodate the site for the new maintenance facility. 9 10 Another collaboration project being considered is locating the 11 Hennepin County Fair at a permanent site. 12 13 Recently, an informational hearing was held to review the 14 space needs analysis drafted by The Alliance. This firm was 15 hired to assess the space needs for a community center 16 project . 17 18 The City Manager stated that letters regarding this hearing 19 were sent to all those who currently use community center 20 space. Only eight people attended the meeting. 21 22 It is the intention of the City Manager to "take this show on 23 the road" to community service clubs and other civic 24 organizations . He is hopeful of getting more community and 25 resident input . 26 27 The options are to do nothing, remodel , build a new facility, 28 or buy a freestanding structure and remodel to suit the needs 29 of a community center. This issue will be brought before the 30 Planning Commission for its review. 31 32 Commissioner Franzese inquiredif the School District is 33 participating in this project . 34 35 The City Manager responded that the School Board is actively 36 participating but is not looking at using this building for 37 its needs : It appears something will be done to Wilshire, Park 38 School to accommodate the need for additional classroom space. 39 40 41 , 42 d. Commissioner Thompson 43 44 Commissioner Thompson had nothing to comment on at this time. 45 46 e. Commissioner Berastrom 47 48 Commissioner Bergstrom stated that the Environmental Task 49 Force has not met since the last Planning Commission Meeting 50 so *he had nothing to report at this time.
