MEMORANDUM
DATE: November 10, 1993
FROM: Thomas D. Burt, City Manager
TO: Planning Commissioners
SUBJECT: GROUND SIGNS
• With the recent request from Goodyear for a change in their ground sign, I began
to review the existing ground signs and questioned if the maximum 32 square feet
of sign surface area is appropriate.
The Hardees ground sign has approximately 86.64 total square feet; the Pizza Hut
has a ground sign with 62.8 square feet total area; and Baker's Square has a
ground sign of 56.18:total square feet. This means that these signs are now non—
conforming and these businesses are only able to. maintain their signs. The
present ordinance does not give them an opportunity to improve upon their signs.
Staff is seeking direction from the Planning Commission on this issue.
•
