STAFF REPORT
DATE: March 25, 1994
TO: Planning Commissioners
FROM: Larry Hamer, Interim City Manager
ITEM: SETBACK VARIANCE REQUEST FROM DARRIN
MERCIL FOR 3112 SILVER LAKE ROAD
Darrin and JoAnn Mercil were granted a variance on November 9, 1993 for the
property at 3112 Silver Lake Road. A survey was subsequently done and they
discovered that if their home were placed where they had indicated at the time
the first variance was requested, it would be only 9 feet from the back of their
house to the back of their neighbor's home. The original variance was for 23
feet to the front yard property line (a 7 foot variance) and 5 feet to the back
property line (a 20 foot variance).
The Mercil's are requesting 15 feet to the front property line (a variance of 15
feet) and 13 feet to the rear property line (a 12 foot variance). Granting this
variance would place their home 23 feet from the property line and the garage
will extend to the north 8 feet. Placement of the home will be equal to the
adjacent home and the garage will extend 8 feet in front of the adjacent structure
to the west.
