05/28/97 14:59 '$612 370 1378 BRW INC 0 002/003 Additions or Improvements to Neighborhood Parks Silver Point Park Four areas of improvement are recommended for this park: Recreational Fields: The bituminous basketball surface should be milled and overlayed and re-striped. This area could accommodate an additional youth soccer field if the basketball court were removed or relocated to another area of the park. Playgrounds: The current playground Is divided Into two separate equipment areas which are edged with wood timbers. The two areas are separated by a four-foot-wide concrete sidewalk. One play area has a relatively new multi-unit play structure while the other area contains a single, tall, metal slide. Recommendations for this area are as follows: • Remove concrete walk separating the two play equipment areas. • Combine two play areas into one contiguous play ground. • Remove raised wood timber edging. • Replace concrete sidewalk surrounding play area at a higher elevation and thicken inside edge of new walk to act as containment for pea gravel play surface. • Install additional play equipment system with several handicap- useable features, such as digger, swing etc. • Add handicap accessible surfacing adjacent to concrete walk and new accessible play facilities. Landscaping: Plant coniferous trees such as Colorado spruce and Austrian pine along shared western and northern residential / park property lines adjacent to the ball field. Park Furnishings: Replace existing benches with six-foot-long wood park benches with backs and arm rests. Replace litter receptacles with more colorful units with self-closing lid. Coordinate new furnishings in all parks. Emerald Park The following improvements are recommended: Parking Area: Reconfigure parking area to provide separation and landscape buffering between street and parking. Remove and replace deteriorating bituminous pavement and install concrete curb and gutter.
