STAFF REPORT
DATE: August 19, 1997
TO: Planning Commission Members
FROM: Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant
ITEM: Proposed Addition for St. Charles Borromeo Catholic
Church.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Gerry DeZelar, architect for St. Charles Borromeo, will be presenting a proposal to
the Planning Commission regarding the construction of an additional building on site to be
used as a gathering place. They have the space for the building, but parking is and will be
an issue for this project.
Currently, the church has 200 parking spaces, including the spaces designated for the
school. According to the City Ordinance and based on the current seating capacity of the
church, they need 400 parking spaces. `.
Mr. DeZelar has indicated that the proposed building will be used for a gathering place
after services. He told Staff there will probably never be a time when the church will be
holding services and another event will be going on at the same time in the proposed
building.
