City Council Regular Meeting Minutes August 12, 1997 Page 5 1 noted the City does have insurance through the League of Minnesota Cities which will 2 reimburse all costs of excavation related to this issue. 3 Morrison reported the bond proceeds for the new Liquor Store will be issued on August 20, 4 1997. The steel for the project is on backload. This has not effected the schedule of the 5 project and opening of the store is still anticipated between October 21 and November 1, 6 1997. The Council will be considering several change orders at the September meeting. The 7 funds for the change orders were included in the budget but specific costs had not been 8 determined at that time. 9 Morrison reported he will be meeting with Hennepin and Ramsey Counties tomorrow in 10 regard to funding for the flood victims. He will also be talking with CDBG staff in regard to 11 potential funding. He reported he has also placed a call to the Metropolitan Council and 12 noted Senator Marty has sent a letter to Governor Carlson requesting $1 million in assistance 13 based on the surveys received by the City last month. 14 Morrison reported Hennepin County will be performing the Silver Lake Road overlay 15 September 9 to September 18, 1997. 16 Morrison reported the Town and Country Grocery Store will be closing at the end of the 17 month. He stated he has received 12 to 24 calls from residents in the area asking if,the City 18 can do anything to get a new grocery store in the area. He noted this is a concern of the 19 population in that area. 20 Morrison reported he has nominated Liquor Operation Manager Mike Larson as the Liquor 21 Manager of the Year. 22 Morrison reported a purchase agreement has been negotiated for the next house on Kenzie 23 Terrace. Today the City closed on the other house on Kenzie Terrace which was being 24 negotiated. Morrison reported the closing did include $2,500 down in an escrow account. 25 This is more than-the typical amount down which is $500. 26 Morrison reported he will be providing a VillageFest cost summary of the cost of the time of 27 the Police, Fire and Public Works Departments. 28 Morrison reported he had met with Mike Peterson, President of the Sports Boosters, today and 29 Mr. Peterson presented the City with a $25,000 contribution. This brings their total 30 contribution to the City to $40,000. 31 Morrison reported the Brooklyn Center City Council presented the City of St. Anthony with a 32 Resolution of Appreciation for helping their City with the use of the wood chipper. 33 1.
