The sign drawing submitted by the applicant does show landscaping; however, it is
limited given the pedestal and overall sign size.
This issue goes back to earlier in the year, when Lawrence Sign Company approached
the City on behalf of the Park, about the proposed signage. At that time, city staff
explained that the proposed sign did not meet the city code and rejected it. After that,
they attempted to submit the same sign repeatedly and were denied. In June, city staff
received an incomplete sign variance application and asked the applicant for more
information. Staff has since gone back and forth with the applicant, with information still
incomplete. All along, the applicant has expected and leaned heavily on the City to fill
out the variance application for them.
City staff has indicated, as presented, that the proposed ground sign is not acceptable.
The applicant wanted the request to come forward through the city process, as is, to see
what the response would be to the variance requests.
Attachments:
Petition for Variance
o Map
C Proposed Sign Drawing
