He noted that the Planning Commission had worked
hard to make an informed recommendation to the Council, and had been discouraged at the ultimate
decision by the Council. Hanson continued by stating that he was enlightened and encouraged about
the possibility of another type of activity being considered at the Apache Plaza by-the Northwest
Task Force.
Additionally,Hanson reported that he received his Planning Commission meeting agenda packet at
8:30 p.m. the evening prior to the meeting.
Lastly,Hanson believes it would be a good idea to review the Planning Commission's goals for the
Year 2000, and he would like to encourage the three Planning Commissioners whose terms will be
up at the end of the year to reapply.
Thomas commented that he agrees with Hanson's ideas. Additionally, he would like to call the
it Commissioners' attention to a program that the Minnesota Finance Agency offers. These funds would apply to the entire Village and not just the Northwest Quadrant.
Bergstrom noted that the deadline for these grants is December and June. Thomas said the first step
is to make a suggestion to the City Council to inquire if it is interested in pursuing these grants.
Then, the City Staff would go forward in taking steps to apply for the grant.
Bergstrom noted that this issue should move on to the City Council next week due to the deadline
of December.
