CITY OF ST. ANTHONY' <br /> SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> May 28 , 1981 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Mayor Haik at 5 :05 P.M. <br /> Present for roll call : Letourneau, Ranallo, Haik, Sundland. <br /> Absent: Marks. <br /> Also present: Larry Hamer, Acting City Manager; Carol Johnson, <br /> Clerk/Treasurer; James Day, Nordstrom Insurance <br /> Agency; Ken .Kaufmann and .Mike Ruddy, Alexander & <br /> Alexander Insurance Agency. <br /> The meeting opened .with discussion of the insurance bids which are <br /> up for .award. The Council requested Mr.. Day to explain the role <br /> of the Nordstrom Risk Management and Nordstrom. Agency, Inc. Mr. Day <br /> explained they are two separate firms and- that the Nordstrom Risk <br /> Management firm has worked .wit_h the League of Minnesota Cities in <br /> developing and .setting up the League' s insurance program. The <br /> Nordstrom Agency, Inc. is an insurance agency. <br /> It was determined that the City had two- bid proposals to consider. <br /> Alexander & Alexander, Inc. ' s total package bid was $96 ,233 . The <br /> Nordstrom Agency' s total package bid was $84 ,937 . Both bids <br /> included .the .$2 million limit on the Umbrella Liability Policy . <br /> The Council .discussed splitting the Umbrella Liability from the <br /> package which- would result in a $3,100 savings to the City. <br /> Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Sundland to <br /> award the Umbrella Liability ($2 million limit) separately. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Mayor Haik to. accept <br /> the lowest bid, that of the Nordstrom Agency, Inc. , exclusive of <br /> the Umbrella Liability Policy. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to <br /> award the Umbrella Liability ($2 million limit) insurance to <br /> Alexander &. Alexander, Inc. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> After the awards were made, Mr.. Ruddy of the Alexander & Alexander <br /> Agency asked Mr. Day if the Workmen' s Compensation policy had an <br /> assessable clause in- it. Mr. Day said he did not- believe it did., <br /> but would check that out. Mr.. Day also stated that he would <br /> "stand behind the assessable .clause ..not being in the City of <br />
