Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Marks to adopt <br /> Resolution 82-025 . <br /> RESOLUTION 82-025 <br /> A- RESOLUTION REALLOCATING CDBG MONIES <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> I The conversation related to the discontinuance of the branch pickup <br /> in the City was resumed with Councilman Enrooth agreeing such con- <br /> sideration should be deferred until the 1983 .budget is drawn up , but <br /> reminding .the Council members that -he perceives .a commitment has been <br /> made to the Public Works Department that. the project would be dropped. <br /> Mayor Sundland recalled that other services such as curb edging have <br /> had to be discontinued in the past for budgetary reasons and he <br /> believes the residents would agree that seal coating the streets <br /> should have priority over this service when they learn the pickup <br /> took a month of the Public Work Department' s time and cost $13 .54 <br /> per stop. Councilman. Ranallo suggested the point might be made that <br /> . if the streets are. not kept up they might become -.as bad as the. shopping <br /> center parking lots this year. He reiterated that Larry Hamer has <br /> warned that road maintenance is becoming more difficult each year. <br /> In reference to the June 2nd staff notes , Mr. Childs said he expects <br /> the City to be reimbursed for charges made by Northwestern Bell for <br /> a line which was disconnected in 1974 and also for some of the costs <br /> of repairing the siren since the same company had installed sirens in <br /> other communities who have reported similar malfunctions . He agreed <br /> with Councilman Ranallo that the City bulletin-. board -could be utilized <br /> to inform drivers that the St. ' Anthony Boulevard Bridge will be closed <br /> for reconstruction after June 16th and that major industries whose <br /> employees use -the bridge should be notified in advance of the road <br /> closing. <br /> Motion by Mayor Sundland and seconded by Councilman Marks to indicate <br /> to the Hennepin County Agriculture Society that, because of budget <br /> constrictions:, the City would be unable to support the operation of <br /> the Hennepin County Fair. <br /> Motion 'carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Berg indicated he would have at least a portion of the proposed <br /> Sign ordinance- rewritten for. Planning 'Commission consideration at their <br /> next meeting, June 15th. <br /> • Mayor Sundland.. urged attendance at the hearing on preferred hazardous <br /> waste sites to be held by , the Minnesota Waste Management Control Board <br /> at the State Capitol , June 10th. One - of- the questions he would like <br /> to -see raised would be whether it would be feasible to set up a system <br /> of alerting communities when hazardous waste materials are being trans- <br /> ported through their areas . <br />
