-6- <br /> many property owners along 37th- Avenue .would .not favor a semaphore <br /> because of the noise generated by vehicles starting- and stopping <br /> all night long.., Councilman Marks recalled that when he was Chairman <br /> of the Wilshire PISA the. safety of the children. crossing 37th had <br /> been the primary concern when .the first plans for.-.rebuiding the road <br /> were considered. He said a decision had. been made .at that time to <br /> bus the children who lived-north .of 37th because that would be less <br /> expensive than to. rely on. a stop sign or a warning light or to <br /> construct .a .walkway'. over the road. <br /> Councilman Ranallo. told Ms . Getman..he had been one of . those who had <br /> petitioned Hennepin County to install- a semaphore at the intersection <br /> of Lowry Avenue. and Stinson Boulevard as .a protection for the child- <br /> ren who crossed that intersection several days to and from school. <br /> At that time the County had -Indicated the traffic counts did not <br /> justify the semaphore but two .years . later when the new- bank was in <br /> operation, the County had decided the traffic controls-were <br /> necessary after all. . The Councilman said the same might be true . <br /> after- the new roadway on 37th is. in .operation. Mayor Sundland said <br /> he would. not oppose having- another traffic count if the traffic <br /> increases with the new roadway.. He thanked -the two property owners <br /> for their input to the consideration. <br /> Motion by Councilman Mar.ks .and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to <br /> adopt Resolution 827061. <br /> RESOLUTION 82-061 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 37TH AVENUE <br /> RECONSTRUCTION RIGHT-OF-WAY PLANS <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The Manager reported the staff,. had selected an engineer to. pull <br /> Well #3 to determine the levels and sources of water contamination <br /> at a costnot to exceed $3 ,600 . <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Letourneau <br /> to adopt Resolution 82-062 . <br /> RESOLUTION 82-062 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING.. THE MAYOR 'AND <br /> CITY MANAGER TO ENTER .INTO AN AGREE- <br /> MENT WITH BONESTROO AND ASSOCIATES <br /> FOR E14GINEERING SERVICES <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by. Councilman Ranallo and seconded by.
