-S- and Mr. Childs have begun visiting various St. Anthony firms , such as Medtronics ,. Monarch and Central Engineering,. letting them know they are welcome in the City and urging the firms " officials to let the City know well in advance if they forsee any type of problems which might prompt a move. The Mayor and Councilman Ranallo reported they had also visited the offices of Senator Durenburger and Senator Boschwitz as well as those of Minnesota Congressmen Sabo. and Sikorski to seek their support in convincing H.U.D. officials that 202 funding should be granted for the senior housing project. The annual meeting of the League of Minnesota Cities is scheduled to be held in Duluth on June 12 , 13 and 14 and Councilman Ranallo urged the other Council members to give Carol Johnson their reservation applications early so they could be housed in the Holiday Normandy near the convention center. He gave the names of .the various speakers who he perceives would make the conference interesting and well worth their attendance . Councilman Makowske reported she is receiving many calls from resi- dents on a wide range of concerns and she has been referring them to the appropriate City department heads. She was told the Council had adopted a policy and a complaint form for referring all such calls to the City Manager, who in turn , would refer them to the propert. depart- ment and, at the same time , keep a tabulation of types of calls, so he • could report any patterns of complaints which he perceived indicated a prevalent' ' of. any particular concern. A number of calls to Councilman Ranallo related to the upgrading of County Road D and had prompted him to suggest it might be wise to set up information meetings for the neighbors close to 37th in an effort to dispel some of the confusion regarding the project. Councilman Marks indicated some of the concerns had been raised when the resi- dents saw the construction limit stakes and thought they denoted the width -of the roadway. He indicated he believes. that a few of the residents on Silver Lake Road were -not really confused about how the project was going to be developed, but rather, . wanted it dropped completely. More meetings might only encourage them to think this was possible , he said. Several of the residents on streets close to 37th had expressed to Councilman Makowske their concerns that traffic might be detoured past their homes and the Manager told her the plan from the very start had been to close only one side of 37th at a time during construction. He acknowledged drivers might make their own detours when traffic slows down,. but Mr. Hamer said he believed the County would funnel traffic down County Road E, if that became too big a problem. He added that Berger Transfer had agreed to .send their trucks down Chandler Drive . The Mayor suggested the County Road E ' detour, if needed, be strongly • promoted by staff. The. Public Works Director indicated Ramsey County had completed all their acquisitions, some by condemnation, and Hennepin County was almost through with theirs .
