CITY OF ST, ANTHONY
COUNCIL MINUTES
• June 11, 1984
The meeting, which had been rescheduled from June 12th, was opened at
7: 30 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Sundland.
Present for roll call: Ranallo, Sundland, Enrooth, and Makowske .
Absent: Marks.
Also present: David Childs, City Manager; and Larry Hamer, Public
Works Director.
During the discussion of the May 22nd Council meeting minutes , Councilman
Makowske .indicated she would never have voted for the motion on Page 7
which authorized the City' s support for the acquisition of a Doppler
Radar system for testing by the National Weather service, but, rather,
had perceived that motion had only authorized the City Attorney to ' look
further into the matter. Councilman Enrooth had told her he had
seconded the motion, fully understanding that Mr. Soth had already
indicated that he saw .no problem with the City lending its non-profit
tax identification for .donations for the purchase of the equipment to
be made in the City' s name and that the motion approved such an action
while authorizing the details to be resolved to the satisifaction of
the attorney . Mayor Sundland and Councilman Ranallo indicated they
• had based their vote of approval on the same assumption. Mr. Childs
added that he had. found 'out that the upgraded Doppler system recently
announced by Channel 5 was still not the equipment with a single
computer assisted display system, which the Kavouris Company had
proposed be tested by the Weather Service .
Councilman Ranallo modified, with the approval of the others , the word-
ing of Paragraph 8, Page 3, to indicate the Council and the Mayor had
only authorized the Fire and Police Departments to look into the
feasibility of writing a new ordinance to require partitions between
. every two stalls in apartment garages . The Councilman said he was
concerned the restrictions might .apply to the Kenzington garages , but
Mr. Hamer told him he understood the State Uniform Building Code would
be making an. exception for that structure due to the construction
materials used.
The following amendments and changes were accepted for the May 22nd
minutes :
Page 1, para. 6.: Correct the-spelling of "Councilman" in-line- 1 .
Page 3, para. 8 : Substitute "investigate the feasibility" for "parti-
cipate in the development" in lines 1 and 2.
Page 4 , para. 5 : Substitute "a number of" for "numerous" in line 1.
• Page 5, para. 4 : Delete "business" in line 11.
