-5- <br /> Marks -reported attendance at a seminar the previous week where a <br /> member of the Danish Parliament had told him that, sur- <br /> prisingly enough, some data, which was not definitive, had <br /> shown that since the issue of obscenity had gone away, the <br /> violence to women had declined and the places selling por- <br /> nography had to a great extent disappeared, or at least <br /> were not as prolific. <br /> Rose -cautioned against trying to extrapolate something from <br /> another value system, citing the Jewish use of alcohol and <br /> the education system in Japan as examples of what would <br /> probably not work in a culture like the United States. <br /> Youth Intervention Program Association Funding <br /> Marks -was concerned the above program from which the Youth <br /> Service Bureau he chairs benefits, might be in budget <br /> jeopardy this session; <br /> -said he would call Representative Rose later to allow him <br /> more time to find out about that bill. <br /> • Delayed Assessed Valuations for Rehabilitation Projects in St. Paul <br /> Makowske -wondered about the status of this legislation which the <br /> Ramsey County League of Governments peceived might have <br /> adverse ramifications for communities like St. Anthony, <br /> which 'surround St. Paul. <br /> Rose -promised to get back to her with any information he <br /> could get on the bill. <br /> The Representative was thanked for a very informative report on issues <br /> which could impact on St. Anthony and was invited to return whenever he <br /> perceived proposed legislation might be of primary interest to St. <br /> Anthony residents. <br /> MARCH 10 , 1987 COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> Motion by Makowske, seconded by Marks to approve the above minutes with <br /> the following changes: <br /> Page 1 , para. 4: Substitute "have" for "has" in line 4. <br /> Page 6 , para. 2: Substitute "this" for "his" in line 1. <br /> Page 6 ,, para. 7: Substitute "properties" for "places" in line 6. <br /> Page 9, para. 5: Substitute "screen" for "silk screening" in line 3 . <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> • <br />
