. 1 -7- <br /> 2 Councilmember Makowske Expects to Continue Her Service on the <br /> 3 Association of Metropolitan Municipalities Housing and Economic <br /> 4 Development Committee <br /> 5 The Councilmember said she had indicated her interest in being on <br /> 6 the committee on which she had already served two years. She <br /> 7 asked if there were any particular issues other Councilmembers <br /> 8 might want her to bring up for discussion at the next session. <br /> 9 Ramsey County League of Local Governments to Continue Study of St. <br /> 10 Paul Water Quality, June 24th <br /> 11 Although it appears there would be no permanent solution found to <br /> 12 eliminate the poor taste and smell in the St. Paul water supply, <br /> 13 Councilmember Makowske indicated she would continue to follow up <br /> 14 on the issue by attending the next meeting on the subject the <br /> 15 following evening. Mr. Childs said he understood the study <br /> 16 committee perceived there had been some improvement in the water <br /> 17 quality but concurred that this was a problem which would probably <br /> 18 not be easily corrected. <br /> 19 DEPARTMENT AND COMMITTEE <br /> 20 The following were noted and ordered filed as informational: <br /> . <br /> 21 *report from the Edward J. Hance law firm on matters conducted <br /> 22 at the Hennepin County District Court on June 3 , 1987 in <br /> 23 which they had represented St. Anthony as Prosecutor; <br /> 24 *May Fire Department Report; <br /> 25 *May Financial Report; <br /> 26 *May Liquor Operations Sales Summary. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Fire Department Responding to Different Types of Medical <br /> 29 Emergencies <br /> 30 Mr. Childs discussed Fire Chief Entner' s observations on the type <br /> 31 of medical calls which had been reported in the June 16th staff <br /> 32 meeting notes. He said neither he nor Chief Entner could find any <br /> 33 specific reason for the rather generalized increase in medical <br /> 34 emergencies other than heart-related, for which the Fire <br /> 35 Department had been called out. The notes were ordered filed. <br /> 34 CITY MANAGER <br /> 35 Council Approves Cardboard Baler for Apache Liquor Warehouse <br /> • 36 The Council considered the City Manager' s recommendation that the above <br /> 37 be leased under a buy-out arrangement, which would cost the City $70.06 <br /> 38 less a month than it now costs to have the cardboard hauled away. This <br /> 39 cost would be further diminished by the $22.00 a ton cardboard is now <br /> 40 selling for. Mr. Childs assured Councilmember Ranallo that the type of <br />
