r <br /> • 5 <br /> 1 No Big Issues Being Considered by League' s Legislative Committee <br /> 2 Councilmember Ranallo made the above observations about the LMC Federal <br /> 3 Legislative Committee on which he serves and whose meetings he has been <br /> 4 recently attending. He promised to alert the Council if anything <br /> 5 "earthshaking" developed. <br /> 6 DEPARTMENTS AND COMMITTEES <br /> 7 The Council considered the report from the City prosecutor' s law firm on <br /> 8 matters conducted at the Hennepin County District Court July 15 , 1987 <br /> 9 in which they represented St. Anthony. Mr. Childs told Councilmember <br /> 10 Marks he had requested the City prosecutor keep track of any arrests <br /> 11 they made which involved persons with bench warrants against them. <br /> 12 However, he reiterated that there would be no notification of the City <br /> 13 if such arrests were made outside St. Anthony. The reports on City <br /> 14 arrests would probably start coming in next month, according to the City <br /> 15 Manager. <br /> 16 CITY MANAGER REPORTS <br /> 17 August 4, 1987 Staff Meeting Notes <br /> •18 Councilmember Marks said he appreciated the City Manager' s instructions <br /> 19 to City personnel to use a little extra patience and restraint when <br /> 20 dealing with residents ' complaints during periods of extreme heat such <br /> 21 as had been experienced recently. The Councilmember said he perceived <br /> 22 the City was in the service business and it was well to keep that <br /> 23 service orientation in mind. <br /> 24 Mr. Childs explained that the "upgrading of the tennis courts" reported <br /> 25 by Mr. Hamer only involved resurfacing and that lighting would be an <br /> 26 item to be considered in the budget. <br /> 27 Councilmember Makowske indicated she perceived Mr. Hamer' s suggestion <br /> 28 for utilizing landlocked property near 31st and 32nd Avenues for a storm <br /> 29 drainage retention basin was an excellent one which she., --=.:: would like to <br /> 30 see pursued, if feasible. <br /> 31 Applicant to Represent the City on the East Side Hennepin County Human <br /> 32 Services Committee to be Interviewed August 25th <br /> 33 Peggy_Swonger, 3525 Stinson Boulevard, whose letter of application to <br /> 34 fill the open position on the above committee had been included in the <br /> 35 agenda packet, will be invited to meet with the Council at 7 : 20 P.M. <br /> 36 just prior to their meeting that evening. <br /> 37 City Manager Gives Parkview Facility Update <br /> 038 Councilmembers had been provided copies of Mr. Childs' August 7th <br /> 39 memorandum indicating staff had compiled figures for part of the costs <br />
