1 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> AUGUST 25, 1992 <br /> PAGE 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 2 . Report of Councilmember Fleming <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Monday, September 14th is the next scheduled meeting of <br /> 9 the Village Fest Committee. Councilmember Fleming stated <br /> 10 that profits from the 1992 Village Fest will be about <br /> 11 $5, 000 . She also noted that Mayor Ranallo is hosting an <br /> 12 appreciation evening for volunteers who participated in <br /> 13 the Village Fest at his home on September 11th. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 3 . _Report of Councilmember Marks <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Councilmember Marks had noticed blue paper boxes located <br /> 18 throughout the community for the purpose of selling <br /> 19 newspapers . The City Manager was contacted regarding this <br /> 20 matter. He contacted the attorney for the Pioneer Press <br /> 21 and requested these containers be removed within ten <br /> 22 days . <br /> 23 <br /> 24 4 . Report of Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Councilmember Enrooth had been vacationing and had <br /> 2277 nothing to report . <br /> !9 5. Report of Mayor Ranallo <br /> 30 <br /> 31 The Mayor serves on the State' s Federal Legislation <br /> ,• 32 Committee . He advised that there is presently being <br /> 33 considered a constitutional amendment to safeguard a fund <br /> 34 for cities . This fund is intended to ' replace the Trust <br /> 35 Fund for cities which was used by the Governor during the <br /> 36 last legislative session. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 The Mayor noted that both the League of Minnesota Cities <br /> 39 and the Association of Metropolitan Municipalites are <br /> 40 reviewing this issue. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 B. Report of the City Manager <br /> 43 <br /> 44 1 . The City Manager discussed the possible dates which <br /> 45 could be considered for the Budget Public Hearing. This <br /> 46 hearing is mandated by law for all taxing authorities, <br /> 47 the County, the School District and the City. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 Wednesday, December 9, 1992 at 7 : 00 p.m. was the time and <br /> 50 date selected for the Budget Public Hearing. <br />
