REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> AUGUST 10, 1993 <br /> 3 PAGE 8 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Councilmember Wagner is undecided and Mayor Ranallo i.s <br /> 7 reviewing his schedule. The City Manager advised there is <br /> 8 $4 , 100 . left in the budget which could accommodate the <br /> 9 attendance of two members of the Council . <br /> 10 <br /> 11 The City Manager was directed to draft a travel policy which <br /> 12 would address arriving before the conference starts and the <br /> 13 associated accommodation and food costs . <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Councilmember Wagner requested that a policy also be drafted <br /> 16 regarding the disposition of frequent flyer miles earned with <br /> 17 public employees travel . <br /> 18 <br /> 19 The City Manager advised this is covered by State Statute <br /> 20 which states that frequent flyer miles cannot be claimed by <br /> 21 anyone who travels as a public sector employee. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 C. City Manager ' s Report <br /> 24 <br /> 25 On Saturday evening, the City experienced flooding in some <br /> 6 areas due to a very heavy rain. Much of 31st Avenue washed out <br /> and there was considerable plugging of storm sewer pipes . In <br /> an area recently sealcoated much of the sealcoat washed away <br /> 29 as well . City crews were out to clean up and repair on Sunday. <br /> 30 There will be silt fencing put up if there is another heavy <br /> 31 rain forecast . <br /> 32 <br /> 33 The Mayor observed that some property owners were upset but <br /> 34 were .very cooperative. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 The City Manager received only one call regarding the rain . He <br /> 37 also stated that the crews working on the damage resulting <br /> 38 from the rain are the same crews which were to begin on the <br /> 39 Rosie' s Restaurant site this week. This will be delayed. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Overview of Crime Prevention in the Past & Present <br /> 43 <br /> 44" Chief Engstrom prepared a memo which gave an overview of crime <br /> 45 prevention in the past and the present . <br /> 46- <br /> 47 <br /> 6 .47 Chief Engstrom is recommending that a Town Meeting be held for <br /> 48 residents where issues ' such as crime prevention programs, <br /> 49" crime concerns and police service be addressed. <br /> 50 <br />
