REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> AUGUST 24 , 1993 <br /> 3 PAGE 3 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 7 . REPORTS <br /> 7 <br /> 8 A. City Council Reports <br /> 9 <br /> 10 1 . Report of Councilmember Wagner <br /> 11 <br /> 12 This past week Councilmember Wagner attended the meeting of <br /> 13 the Apache Plaza Merchants Association Board. Although there <br /> 14 was not much new regarding the CUB Store, he noted that Dennis <br /> 15 Cavanuagh is suggesting that Super Valu is responsible for the <br /> 16 delay in finalizing the plans for the store. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 The City Manager advised that currently Super Valu is <br /> 19 experiencing some internal problems which need solving. He <br /> 20 also noted that Mr . Cavanaugh has not as yet negotiated <br /> 21 relocations for many of the businesses in the shopping center . <br /> 22 He stated that all of these businesses have thirty day leases . <br /> 23 <br /> 24 The Mayor stated that Penney ' s is hosting a meeting on August <br /> 25 25th in its auditorium. The meeting will address the <br /> 26 anticipated "value added" tax and other taxes which are being <br /> supported by- the Clinton administration. The meeting is <br /> scheduled for 2 : 00 p.m. , will show a twenty-five minute video, <br /> 29 and is expected to last about one hour. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 2 . Report of Councilmember Fleming <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Councilmember Fleming attended a meeting of the Northwest <br /> 34 Youth and Services Bureau where its future location was <br /> 35 discussed . Presently, many loctions .are being checked out for <br /> 36 their suitability. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 On September 23rd from 3 : 15 p.m. to 5 : 45 p.m. a meeting will <br /> 39 be held in the St . Anthony Community Center for members of the <br /> 40 Hennepin County, Adolescent and Youth Health Task Force. <br /> 41 Councilmember Fleming serves on this task force and advised <br /> 42 -that its meetings are held on a rotating basis regarding times <br /> 43 and locations. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 On September 18th there is an all day meeting scheduled for <br /> 46 the State' s Human Rights Commission. Councilmember Fleming <br /> 47 advised that St . Anthony does have a Human Rights Commission. <br /> 48 She also stated that someone from the State' s Commission is <br /> 49 willing to attend a Council work session to explain the goals <br /> 50 of the Commission . <br /> • <br />
