Salo is St . Anthony' s Sister City. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Mr. Braslau met the Mayor of Salo and his wife for dinner . He <br /> 19 presented them with gifts from St . Anthony. He also gave them <br /> 20 a copy of the City ' s newsletter . There was an article in the <br /> 21 newsletter regarding St . Anthony ' s interest in building a new <br /> 22 City Hall . The Mayor found this quite interesting as, this. is <br /> 23 an interest of Salo ' s leadership as well . <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Mr. Braslau felt a new City Hall is unlikely in the immediate <br /> 26 future as the economic conditions in Salo are very dire. The <br /> unemployment rate is twenty percent compared with seventeen <br /> percent in Finland. The economy was negatively impacted <br /> 29 because a large percentage of Finland ' s products were exported <br /> 30 to Russia and this has now stopped. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 There have been two new shopping malls built in Salo, but Mr. <br /> 33 Braslau felt they may have a rather dismal future for success . <br /> 34 <br /> 35 He toured the "Blue Horse" which is a cultural center in Salo <br /> 36 and includes- a craft center, an art gallery, and shops . <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Although Salo ' s Mayor does not speak Eng.lis.h,_ he can read it . <br /> 39 He would like to establish a letter exchange between Salo' s <br /> 40 students and St . Anthony students . Mr . Braslauhas met with <br /> 41 Dave Abrahamson regarding this proposed exchange. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Mr. Braslau was thanked for his report . <br /> 44 <br /> 45 <br /> 46 5.
