City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • July 23, 1996 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 1 Mayor Ranallo stated he attended the previous Villagefest meeting and found the <br /> 2 members to be very energetic. He noted that while there is no chairperson for next year, <br /> 3 all of the committees have already been established. He inquired regarding the clean-up <br /> 4 aspect after the Villagefest events. Enrooth stated this is being worked on. Enrooth <br /> 5 reviewed the floats that are anticipated at the parade. Wagner added that the Kiwanis will <br /> 6 ride on the fire truck and hand out peanuts. <br /> 7 1. Proclaim National Night Out <br /> 8 Mayor Ranallo reviewed the Proclamation declaring August 6, 1996, as National Night <br /> 9 Out. He reported that, so far, only one house has registered for participation but he hopes <br /> 10 more will register. <br /> 11 Motion by Marks, second by Wagner, to proclaim August 6, 1996, as National Night Out <br /> 12 in the City of St. Anthony. <br /> 13 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 14 D. City Manager. <br /> 15 City Manager Mornson advised the City is in the process of receiving proposals for the <br /> comprehensive plan update and has interviewed three to four firms who were fact finding. <br /> He explained that a public hearing is required but,perhaps, the consultant could conduct a <br /> 18 community survey to determine issues. <br /> 19 City Manager Mornson reminded the Council of the CUB ground breaking ceremony <br /> 20 scheduled for August 1, 1996. He advised the Public Works employees will put out tables <br /> 21 and chairs and create a stage area. Also, the closing transaction is completed, the <br /> 22 development agreement recorded, and the project is on schedule. City Manager Mornson <br /> 23 noted he will need to obtain permission from the property owner for the ground breaking <br /> 24 ceremony since it is proposed to be held on private property. <br /> 25 Mayor Ranallo noted the CUB ground breaking program will start at 5 p.m. with <br /> 26 Councilmembers, Firstbank, and CUB representatives being introduced and making short <br /> 27 speeches. He asked Councilmembers to submit their suggestions. City Manager <br /> 28 Mornson advised that a story will be included in the paper next week. Faust commented <br /> 29 on the importance of including photographs in such an article. City Manager Mornson <br /> 30 agreed and stated a photo will be included. <br /> 31 City Manager Mornson advised the Apache Wells auction is completed and the City <br /> 32 received $11,200 for items no longer needed. <br /> City Manager Mornson reported the Stonehouse parking lot will be delayed until next <br /> 4 year because of the expense for the new cash registers ($35,000 to $40,000)but Public <br /> 35 Works will fix the alleys and patch and stripe the lot before fall. <br />
