City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • July 9, 1996 <br /> Page 2 <br /> 1 Motion by Wagner, second by Enrooth to approve the following claims: <br /> 2 A. Hennepin County Assessor in the amount of$28,510.16 for 1996 Contract Billing. <br /> 3 B. Barr En ing eering in the amount of$8,800.00 for professional services rendered during <br /> 4 the period of September 30, 1995 through May 31, 1996. <br /> 5 C. 4 pages of Verified Claims as presented by the Finance Director. <br /> 6 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 7 D. Resident Comments Regarding Airplane Noise. <br /> 8 Mr. Anthony Kaczor; 3008-33rd Avenue, stated he was present this evening to bring it to <br /> 9 the City Council's attention that the noise of passing airplanes is increasing, especially on <br /> 10 the weekends. He expressed concern that if the proposed North/South runway is <br /> 11 constructed at the airport, the noise would increase even more. <br /> 12 Mayor Ranallo noted that the City does address the Airport Commission regarding noise. <br /> 13 He stated the noise is also more noticeable in the Summer months when people spend <br /> 14 more time outdoors. <br /> 15 Councilmember Faust noted the aircrafts are being required by the Noise Abatement Law <br /> to be fitted with new Stage II engines by 1998,which will reduce the noise level. <br /> 17 Mayor Ranallo thanked Mr. Kaczor for attending the meeting and expressing his <br /> 18 concerns. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 VII. REPORTS. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 B. Councilmembers. <br /> 23 Councilmember Wagner reported his attendance at.a meeting of the St. Anthony <br /> 24 Merchant Association. They are currently planning the Kiddie Carnival which is <br /> 25 scheduled for August 17, 1996. The library will hold a book sale in conjunction with this <br /> 26 event. <br /> .27 Councilmember Faust reported he will be attending the first meeting of the League of <br /> 28 Minnesota Cities Improving Fiscal's Future Policy Committee this Thursday. This <br /> 29 Committee will deal with taxes and how they affect cities. <br /> 30 Councilmember Enrooth reported Villagefest is proceeding well. There is still concern if <br /> 31 the necessary area will be cleared of construction materials in time. The parade is <br /> 32 expanding considerably this year and will include floats from many other communities. <br /> Enrooth noted the St. Anthony/Spring Lake Park/Fridley/Columbia Heights Patriots Band <br /> 404 was the grand champion at Calgary this year. There was Council consensus to send a <br /> 35 letter to congratulate the band. <br />
