City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> August 12, 1997 <br /> • Page 5 <br /> 1 noted the City does have insurance through the League of Minnesota Cities which will <br /> 2 reimburse all costs of excavation related to this issue. <br /> 3 Mornson reported the bond proceeds for the new Liquor Store will be issued on August 20, <br /> 4 1997. The steel for the project is on backload. This has not effected the schedule of the <br /> 5 project and opening of the store is still anticipated between October 21 and November 1, <br /> 6 1997. The Council will be considering several change orders at the September meeting. The <br /> 7 funds for the change orders were included in the budget but specific costs had not been <br /> 8 determined at that time. <br /> 9 Mornson reported he will be meeting with Hennepin and Ramsey Counties tomorrow in <br /> 10 regard to funding for the flood victims. He will also be talking with CDBG staff in regard to <br /> 11 potential funding. He reported he has also placed a call to the Metropolitan Council and <br /> 12 noted Senator Many has sent a letter to Governor Carlson requesting $1 million in assistance <br /> 13 based on the surveys received by the City last month. <br /> 14 Mornson reported Hennepin County will be performing the Silver Lake Road overlay <br /> 15 September 9 to September 18, 1997. <br /> 16 Mornson reported the Town and Country Grocery Store will be closing at the end of the <br /> month. He stated he has received 12 to 24 calls from residents in the area asking if the City <br /> W can do anything to get a new grocery store in the area. He noted this is a concern of the <br /> 19 population in that area. <br /> 20 Mornson reported he has nominated Liquor Operation Manager Mike Larson as the Liquor <br /> 21 Manager of the Year. <br /> 22 Mornson reported a purchase agreement has been negotiated for the next house on Kenzie <br /> 23 Terrace. Today the City closed on the other house on Kenzie Terrace which was being <br /> 24 negotiated. Mornson reported the closing did include $2,500 down in an escrow account. <br /> 25 This is more than the typical amount down which is $500. <br /> 26 Mornson reported he will be providing a VillageFest cost summary of the cost of the time of <br /> 27 the Police, Fire and Public Works Departments. <br /> 28 Mornson reported he had met with Mike Peterson, President of the Sports Boosters, today and <br /> 29 Mr. Peterson presented the City with a $25,000 contribution. This brings their total <br /> 30 contribution to the City to $40,000. <br /> 31 Mornson reported the Brooklyn Center City Council presented the City of St. Anthony with a <br /> 32 Resolution of Appreciation for helping their City with the use of the wood chipper. <br /> 1.
