City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • July 28, 1998 <br /> Page 4 <br /> 1 Thuesen reported his attendance at the recent Friends of the Library meeting and explained this <br /> 2 organization raises money to help strengthen the library and improves upon the number of books, <br /> 3 subscriptions for magazines, etc. He commented on the limited funding available to the library <br /> 4 and encouraged interested residents to check it out and get involved. <br /> 5 Cavanaugh reported that he attended the first meeting of the Park Commission and thinks it is a <br /> 6 strong motivated board of residents who will provide leadership to the parks. He also reported <br /> 7 that the last VillageFest meeting was held and that VillageFest events will start with a concert on <br /> 8 Friday at the Stone House. <br /> 9 Mayor Ranallo asked which Councilmembers will be present to participate in the parade. Marks <br /> 10 indicated he will be out of town but Cavanaugh, Faust, and Thuesen are available. <br /> 11 Marks stated he also attended the Park Commission meeting, an auspicious occasion after the <br /> 12 Task Force recommendation and the move to implement new programs for the parks. He <br /> 13 commented that this is a great step forward and congratulated all who volunteered for the Parks <br /> 14 Task Force and the Park Commission which will provide a great program for the City. <br /> 15 C. Mayor. <br /> 0 Mayor Ranallo stated he attended the Park Commission to thank those who are serving. <br /> 17 Mayor Ranallo advised that a joint meeting with the School Board of ISD#282 was held prior to <br /> 18 the Council meeting to discuss the Decision Resources' survey of Village residents regarding <br /> 19 what is going on in the City,what they liked, and did not like. He noted the Council received an <br /> 20 Executive Summary which is mostly positive but presents some issues that need to be addressed. <br /> 21 Mayor Ranallo recommend this Executive Summary appear in the City's newsletter in full and <br /> 22 that copies also be made available to the public at the library and City Hall. The Council <br /> 23 concurred with this suggestion and so directed. <br /> 24 D. City Manager. <br /> 25 Mr. Morrison reported that WSB will attend the August 11, 1998 meeting to give their <br /> 26 recommendation regarding the Comprehensive Water Plan. He also reported the City has been <br /> 27 verbally notified by its Congressman and both State Senators that the City received the FEMA <br /> 28 award for the home buyout program. It is expected the City will receive the grant paperwork <br /> 29 sometime this fall. <br /> 30 Mr. Mornson reported staff is finalizing the 1999 Budget and will present it at the Wednesday, <br /> 31 August 5, 1998 work session. Mayor Ranallo reviewed the budget hearing process and <br /> 32 encouraged input. <br /> 0 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS. -None. <br /> 34 XI. NEW BUSINESS. <br />
