He expressed his sense of encouragement <br /> 2 after the meeting that this company will promote the positive redevelopment of the center as 1) <br /> 3 they are local buyers with appreciation of local issues, and 2)they have a history of <br /> 4 redevelopment of shopping centers in the area. <br /> 5 Cavanaugh reported that diversion cost responsibility was discussed at a recent Northwest <br /> 6 Family Services Personnel Committee meeting, and confirmed that this is a billable expense for <br /> 7 the home community. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Cavanaugh stated that the VillageFest volunteer committee, which met on Monday, March 8, <br /> 10 1999, is looking for volunteers including a volunteer chairperson for the parade and someone for <br /> 11 the silent auction. He added that participation in VillageFest is a great opportunity for <br /> 12 community involvement. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Cavanaugh stated that he attended the recent chili cook-off at the Community Center which was <br /> 15 a great success and brought the community together. He requested that the City Manager review <br /> 16 the possible addition of a public announcement system to the atrium area. He added that he had <br /> 17 been in the atrium area and couldn't hear the speaker. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Ranallo stated that when the Community Center was designed and built, it was not anticipated <br /> 20 that the atrium would serve any functions other than as a hallway, so a public announcement <br /> system was not included in the plans. He agreed with Cavanaugh, and requested that the City <br /> Manager look at possible cost. Cavanaugh stated the stone pots in the atrium should be replaced <br /> 23 with ones which are more easily movable to accommodate events such as the chili cook-off. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Ranallo stated the chili cook-off was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce which had <br /> 26 committed any money made on the event to be split between VillageFest and SANBE. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 C. MAO. <br /> 29 Ranallo stated the recent large snowfall has brought shoveling and plowing issues to the attention <br /> 30 of City staff, adding the City newsletter published in the fall of 1999 should include information <br /> 31 on the proper way for residents to shovel their driveways to avoid being plowed in again. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 D. City Manager. <br /> 34 Ms. Moore-Sykes reminded the Council of the City staff employee recognition luncheon to be <br /> 35 held Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. She added employees with 5, 10 and 25 year <br /> 36 tenure will be recognized. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated that the City's new fire truck will be delivered by the end of March <br /> 39 1999 and operational by April 1999. Ranallo requested the new truck be brought up to the <br /> 40 Community Center for the Council's April 13, 1999 regular meeting. <br /> 41 <br /> Ms. Moore-Sykes stated that the City's building inspector, Greg Schmidt, will work with Public <br /> Works Director Jay Hartman on inspecting bleachers as part of the new building code as well as <br />
