City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> August 10, 1999 <br /> • Page 8 <br /> 1 Mornson wished to clarify for Julie Kimbllin that he believes it would be the responsibility of the <br /> 2 homeowners to pay for decorative lighting along the street. Cavanaugh disagreed stating the <br /> 3 street would be considered an MSA road, and therefore MSA funds could pay for the lights. <br /> 4 Mornson was referring to the decorative lights in the Skycroft area where the residents were <br /> 5 assessed for the difference. <br /> 6 Marks pointed out that Don Johnson, 2816 29''Avenue, had sent a message to the Council that <br /> 7 he was unable to attend the meeting, but wished to state his support for the street project, with <br /> 8 the exception of the sidewalks. <br /> 9 Motion by Cavanaugh, second by Thuesen to table Resolution 99-044 until the first Council <br /> 10 meeting of September 14, 1999. <br /> 11 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 12 Marks reminded the Council that the first meeting for the month of September would be <br /> 13 September 14, 1999. <br /> 14 <br /> B. Councilmembers. <br /> Thuesen extended congratulations to the Parks Commission for the success of Water Tower Park. <br /> 17 He had been unable to attend the grand opening, but was impressed with the progress and out- <br /> 18 come of the park. He wished to express his sincere appreciation to the Commission for the dedi- <br /> 19 cation involved in making Water Tower Park a success. <br /> 20 Faust agreed with Thuesen's remarks and encouraged residents to enjoy and utilize the park. He <br /> 21 stated the park was an obvious success during VillageFest and thanked the Commission as well <br /> 22 for the success and accomplishment of Water Tower Park. Faust said that VillageFest was an <br /> 23 exciting celebration, which included a street dance,parade and a variety of other activities. Faust <br /> 24 reported that the Kiwanis pancake breakfast served a large amount of people and he was pleased <br /> 25 that the event was a success. <br /> 26 Faust wished to make the public aware of a need for special commendation. In reading the Fire <br /> 27 Chief's report, it came to his attention that two of the Public Works employees witnessed an <br /> 28 accident where individuals needed assistance. After calling for emergency assistance, the two <br /> 29 Public Works employees administered first aid until additional help arrived. Faust wished to <br /> 30 commend Tom Owens and Merrill Fisher for their heroic efforts and to extend appreciation on <br /> 31 behalf of the citizens that were served. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Cavanaugh announced that he attended the National Night Out festivities and expressed <br /> satisfaction with the result of the event. He would encourage additional participants for next <br /> 46 year. Cavanaugh confirmed that the dedication of Water Tower Park was successful and stated <br /> 36 that he had received many positive comments from residents. Cavanaugh wished to bestow con- <br />
