City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> • October 26, 1999 <br /> Page 7 <br /> 1 Cavanaugh reported his appreciation as well for the forum hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> 2 He wished also to thank the community for the excellent attendance, and understood that many <br /> 3 residents watched the forum on cable as well. <br /> 4 Marks reported on the upcoming Sister City Association meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m., <br /> 5 Sunday,November 14, 1999 at St. Anthony.City Hall. Marks explained that Ms. Betsey <br /> 6 Norgard, the Minneapolis-Kuopio Sister City Committee representative, would present a <br /> 7 program about the Minneapolis relationship with its sister city, Kuopio, Finland. Ms. Norgard <br /> 8 will also present slides comparing northern Minnesota and Michigan with.Finland. Marks <br /> 9 further stated that the St. Anthony Sister City Association would have displays about its sister <br /> 10 city, Salo, Finland. Marks invited everyone to attend and stated he would be pleased to assist <br /> 11 anyone wishing to become a new member. <br /> 12 Faust reported that he also wished to express sincere appreciation to the Chamber of Commerce <br /> 13 for hosting an excellent forum, as well as to the community for the exceptional attendance. Faust <br /> 14 encouraged a large turnout for Election Day. <br /> 15 Faust mentioned his awareness that the Fire Department is involved with various public <br /> education activities. These activities include programs with school-aged.children regarding fire <br /> safety and general safety issues. Of particular note, the Fire Department has offered CPR <br /> 18 training to high school students and generated significant involvement and interest. Faust was <br /> 19 impressed with the Fire Department's connection with the community and,expressed gratitude <br /> 20 for its efforts. <br /> 21 D. Mayor. <br /> 22 Ranallo reported that he is one of the Commissioners for Channels 15 and 16. In this role, he <br /> 23 and other Commissioners have tried to ensure that the public is informed of open forums where <br /> 24 candidates were able to speak on issues. All of the candidates have been encouraged to attend <br /> 25 and the forums have been publicized as well. <br /> 26 Ranallo informed the Council and public that on November 2, 1999 live from St. Anthony City <br /> 27 Council Chambers for Election Night coverage, there will be four cities participating: New <br /> 28 Brighton, Shorewood, Roseville, and St. Anthony. Bob Manske of the School Board, and Mayor <br /> 29 Ranallo will be Chairpersons who will moderate and invite all the candidates to speak at different <br /> 30 times. <br /> 31 Ranallo announced that two candidates running for St. Anthony City Council, Dick Horst, and <br /> 32 Scott Jahner had been in attendance at many of the recent Council meetings. Ranallo thanked <br /> 33 both gentlemen for their presence at the meetings and expressed his appreciation for their interest <br /> 0 and dedication. <br /> 35 E. Ci . Manager. <br />
