City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> January 25, 2000 <br /> • Page 4 <br /> 1 for lunch. <br /> 2 The Police Department generally begins compliance checks in the spring of each year and then <br /> 3 institutes a follow-up compliance check in late summer or early fall. <br /> 4 In regard to liquor checks, a similar procedure would be followed. However, young adults over <br /> 5 the age of 18, and less than 21 years of age, are asked to participate. Training is provided and <br /> 6 payment is made at$10.00 per hour. <br /> 7 Motion by Sparks to approve Ordinance 2000-001, an Ordinance Relating to the Revocation or <br /> 8 Suspension of Liquor Licenses, Amending Section 1000.06, Subd. 4 of the 1993 St. Anthony <br /> 9 Code of Ordinances (2nd reading). <br /> 10 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 1 l XI. REPORTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 12 A. Parks Commission January 10, 2000. <br /> 13 Mayor Cavanaugh stated that Carol Jindra, Chair of the Parks Commission, was in attendance <br /> and he invited her to address the Council. <br /> 15 Ms. Jindra stated that her intention was to provide an update to the Council about current Parks <br /> 16 Commission issue. She continued by stating that the Commission has two new members and <br /> 17 two new organizational members from the Sports Boosters and the School Board. <br /> 18 Additionally, Ms. Jindra was pleased to announce that Water Tower Park has been utilized by all <br /> 19 ages since its opening and the Parks Commission is satisfied with the outcome. Currently,there <br /> 20 is still some play equipment to be installed, in addition to lights on the basketball court and some <br /> 21 other minor items, but most issues should be completed by spring. <br /> 22 In respect to Silver Point Park, the Parks Commission expects it to officially open in May 2000. <br /> 23 Some issues are yet to be resolved; in particular, lighting, a shelter, and skating. <br /> 24 The Parks Commission has made it a point to involve the public in all of the projects and are <br /> 25 receptive to residents attending meetings to express views and offer opinions. She stated that if <br /> 26 financing is available for requested projects, and the specific park is able to accommodate those <br /> 27 projects, they would be considered. <br /> 28 In response to the earlier comments about ice hockey at the parks, Ms. Jindra stated that Public <br /> 29 Works Director Jay Hartman has provided a memo to City Manager Mike Morrison regarding the <br /> portable hockey system. Although the issue continues to be researched, Ms. Jindra felt that it is a <br /> 46 ' viable option. <br />
