1 CITY OF ST. ANTHONY CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 3 FEBRUARY 8, 2000 4 I. CALL TO ORDER. 5 Mayor Cavanaugh called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 6 II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. 7 Mayor Cavanaugh invited the Council and the audience to join in the Pledge of 8 Allegiance. 9 III. ROLL CALL. 10 Councilmembers present: Mayor Cavanaugh; Councilmembers Sparks, Thuesen, 11 Horst and Hodson. 12 Councilmembers absent: None 13 Also present: Michael Morrison, City Manager. 14 IV. APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 8,2000 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING 15 AGENDA. 16 Motion by Cavanaugh to approve the February 8, 2000 City Council Regular Meeting Agenda with the following addition: 18 V. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. 19 A. Census 2000 Proclamation. 20 21 Motion carried unanimously. 22 23 V. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. 24 A. Census 2000 Proclamation. 25 Cavanaugh explained to the Council that he had attended a meeting for the opening of the Census 26 2000, and had joined the Mayor of Richfield and the Mayor of Minneapolis for opening remarks 27 regarding the ribbon cutting. Each city has been asked to pass a Census 2000 Proclamation 28 which, in part, states that the City proclaims Census 2000 as a top priority, is committed to a full 29 and accurate Census count, and places special emphasis on enumerating members of traditionally 30 undercounted population groups. j 1 In emphasizing the importance of a complete and accurate Census, the City of Minneapolis re- 32 ported that significant dollar amounts of funding were lost for the City during the last Census 33 because of an incomplete count. 34 Motion by Sparks to approve the Census 2000 Proclamation whereby the City of St. Anthony hereby proclaims Census 2000 as a top priority for all elected and appointed officials, and 36 encourages the community to place an emphasis on partnering with the U.S. Census bureau in 37 achieving an accurate and complete count in Census 2000.
