1 CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br /> 3 FEBRUARY 8, 2000 <br /> 4 I. CALL TO ORDER. <br /> 5 Mayor Cavanaugh called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> 6 II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. <br /> 7 Mayor Cavanaugh invited the Council and the audience to join in the Pledge of <br /> 8 Allegiance. <br /> 9 III. ROLL CALL. <br /> 10 Councilmembers present: Mayor Cavanaugh; Councilmembers Sparks, Thuesen, <br /> 11 Horst and Hodson. <br /> 12 Councilmembers absent: None <br /> 13 Also present: Michael Morrison, City Manager. <br /> 14 IV. APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 8,2000 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING <br /> 15 AGENDA. <br /> 16 Motion by Cavanaugh to approve the February 8, 2000 City Council Regular Meeting <br /> Agenda with the following addition: <br /> 18 V. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. <br /> 19 A. Census 2000 Proclamation. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 V. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. <br /> 24 A. Census 2000 Proclamation. <br /> 25 Cavanaugh explained to the Council that he had attended a meeting for the opening of the Census <br /> 26 2000, and had joined the Mayor of Richfield and the Mayor of Minneapolis for opening remarks <br /> 27 regarding the ribbon cutting. Each city has been asked to pass a Census 2000 Proclamation <br /> 28 which, in part, states that the City proclaims Census 2000 as a top priority, is committed to a full <br /> 29 and accurate Census count, and places special emphasis on enumerating members of traditionally <br /> 30 undercounted population groups. <br /> j 1 In emphasizing the importance of a complete and accurate Census, the City of Minneapolis re- <br /> 32 ported that significant dollar amounts of funding were lost for the City during the last Census <br /> 33 because of an incomplete count. <br /> 34 Motion by Sparks to approve the Census 2000 Proclamation whereby the City of St. Anthony <br /> hereby proclaims Census 2000 as a top priority for all elected and appointed officials, and <br /> 36 encourages the community to place an emphasis on partnering with the U.S. Census bureau in <br /> 37 achieving an accurate and complete count in Census 2000. <br />
