This issue will be presented at the June <br /> 2 meeting. <br /> 3 Morrison reported that Clean-Up Day was a success and the City was able to recover costs <br /> 4 through a nominal fee as well as applying for grants through the county. <br /> 5 Morrison noted that the next two months of City Council meetings will have many detailed <br /> 6 issues on the agenda, and it would be critical for all the Councilmembers to be in attendance. If <br /> 7 an absence is expected, Mornson encouraged the Councilmembers to alert him in.advance of the <br /> 8 meeting. <br /> 9 Morrison reminded the Council of the worksession scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2000, as well <br /> 10 as a joint meeting with the School Board from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., May 23, 2000. The regular <br /> 11 City Council meeting would occur following the meeting with the School Board. <br /> 12 XI. REPORTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 13 Hodson did not present a report. <br /> Horst reported that he had been contacted by a resident inquiring about parking on both sides of <br /> 0 the street. Apparently this has become an issue during soccer games and both sides of the street <br /> 16 are lined with cars. <br /> 17 Cavanaugh directed City Manager Michael Morrison to inquire with Public Safety regarding <br /> 18 parking on both sides of a street. <br /> 19 Thuesen reported that he had attended a seminar entitled"Beyond Basics"which concerned <br /> 20 landuse issues. He recommended the seminar,particular to Councilmembers who had not been a <br /> 21 member of the Planning Commission prior to becoming a Councilmember. <br /> 22 Sparks reported that the next VillageFest meeting would be Thursday, May 25, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> 23 at the Community Center. She provided an update that a pigroast would be held this year at <br /> 24 VillageFest, and a number of student groups would be scheduling activities. Some of those ac- <br /> 25 tivities would include: NHS is organizing a volleyball tournament; some students are scheduling <br /> 26 a powderpuff football game; SADD plans to organize a bonfire after the fireworks; and the Key <br /> 27 Club plans on a wiffleball tournament. <br /> 28 Additionally, Sparks reported that she attended a meeting with Staff of the Middle Mississippi <br /> 29 Watershed Management Organization, who is waiting for the legislature to finish up on pending <br /> 30 legislation. <br /> 0 Furthermore, Sparks reported that she attended a meeting with the League of Minnesota Cities <br /> 32 regarding improving community life wherein a symposium on affordable housing was presented. <br />
