r•-
Agenda Item: Reports-3a Status : Informational
• MEMORANDUM
DATE: April 18 , 1984
TO: Dave Childs , City Manager
Department Heads
FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Administrative Secretary
SUBJECT: Staff Meeting Notes - April 18 , 1984
The meeting began at 9 : 50 A.M. Present were Don Hickerson , Dave
Johnson, Lee Entner, and Larry Hamer.
Childs , Connie Kroepin, Carol Jo n, y
Ray. Nelson was absent.
Carol Johnson distributed computer voucher sheets to all the Depart-
ment Heads . She explained the sheets will improve on the description
of items purchased and will more readily show if a certain item has
been paid. There will be a sheet -for each vendor. It will mean there
will be more paperwork, but the improvements in the system should
offset that fact.
To further the Superfund application regarding connecting part of the
City' s water system to Roseville, a check on water pressure and flow
will be conducted in certain areas of the City commencing April 25th.
Residents may experience low water pressure and water discoloration
during the procedure and will be notified of that fact beforehand.
Larry Hamer also discussed the new legislation concerning an employee ' s
right to know about the aspects of their jobs which are considered
to their health. He is planning to attend a meeting on the subject
some time next week. The legislation states that an employee has the
right to refuse to do a job which is hazardous in nature , without
proper training and knowledge. Chief Entner said the Fire Department
has within its personnel established a hazardous materials team and
indicated one of the members is considered an expert and could assist
in the employee training. Mr. Hamer pointed out the Fire , Police , and
Public Works personnel would certainly be affected by the legislation,
as there are hazardous materials involved with their types of work.
The Police Department is in the process of updating the rules and
regulations manual concerning citizen complaints . Chief Hickerson
also mentioned the dog ordinance should be revised.
The Fire Department will be issuing brochure advertisements calling for
additional reserves , especially as fill ins during the day time hours .
I
Mr. Childs said the Planning Commission has requested that cigarette
licensees should be required to position their cigarette machines in
an area where the machines can be supervised at all times to prevent
underage children from buying.
