Burt City Manager
=TEM : STREET LIGHT PETITION
I received a petition from residents of the 3500block on Skycroft Drive for mid-block street lights.
Of the 30 properties, only one resident was not in favor of the petition.
This request is for three street lights with fiberglass poles and underground wiring. The type of
pole and underground wiring is above the City's standard and as a result, much more expensive.
This area does not have power lines in the front, so it makes it difficult to run power to the pole
unless it is underground. To offset this additional cost, the neighbors have indicated they would pay
the installation charges and agree to pay the annual difference in maintenance and power costs.
I recommend that the Council officially receive the petition and direct staff to meet with Northern
States Power and research the cost and feasibility. I will then ask the City Attorney to determine
the best way to assess the installation and annual utility charges back to the resident.
