Council Reports <br /> 2 Councilmember Wagner's Report <br /> 3 The Councilmember indicated he planned to attend a panel discussion on <br /> 4 "Local Government Aid - the Minnesota Approach" at Hamlin University, <br /> 5 November 14th. <br /> 6 Councilmember Fleming's Report <br /> 7 VillageFest The Councilmember reported she had attended a VillageFest <br /> 8 meeting the previous evening where Tom and Dorothy Thorson had <br /> 9 announced they would be resigning their chairmanship on January 1 st. A <br /> 10 meeting of the board and officers was scheduled for November 25th. <br /> 11 Councilmember Enrooth's Report <br /> 12 Community Education Week The Councilmember noted that next week <br /> 13 would be Community Education Week, which he perceived deserved <br /> 14 special consideration since there have been so many changes in that <br /> 15 concept. <br /> 16 November 18th Meeting with School Officials Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 17suggested it might be helpful to have an agenda established for issues to <br /> 08 be considered during the Council's meeting with the District #282 School <br /> 19 Board. Mr. Burt reported the Community Services Director would be <br /> 20 indicating how much space would be needed for varying activities as well <br /> 21 as the proposed rental fees. The. latter would depend on the cost of <br /> 22 operation, which, in 'turn would depend on boiler costs and the <br /> 23 maintenance contract. The City Manager said he was meeting with school <br /> 24 representatives the next morning regarding the contract. <br /> 25 Councilmember Marks' Report <br /> 26 Sister Cities Committee The Councilmember indicated he hoped to be able <br /> 27 to report soon on the establishment of a Sister Cities Committee by Duluth <br /> 28 along with that group's recommendations to other cities who wanted to set <br /> 29 up similar organizations in their communities. <br /> 30 Mayor Ranallo's Report <br /> 31 Unicyclist Awards Banquet The Mayor reported attending this banquet <br /> 32 November 8th. He said the group is made up of young unicyclists from <br /> 33 mostly St. Anthony and New Brighton and had grown. within a year from <br /> 34 eight or nine to thirty-two riders. He was especially impressed by the fact <br /> 35 that the organization had no school or governmental support. <br /> 6 D.A.R.E. Benefit Concert Mayor Ranallo noted the ticket sales for the <br /> 7 benefit November 22nd were not going as well as expected. Therefore, Mr. <br />
