Regular Council Meeting
July 28, 1992
Page 4

Councilmember Enrooth' s Report

The Councilmember echoed the comments regarding the
success of the Village Fest saying the committee had been
thankful for both the good weather and the unicycle
riders ' parents who he perceived had "made Saturday
night" .

Mayor Ranallo' s Report

The Mayor reported he had just given an article to the
St. Anthony Bulletin which expressed his appreciation for
the efforts of all who had worked on the Fest. He said
he had written a special letter to the members of the
Police Reserves who had put in an estimated 122 hours
without pay. The Mayor indicated he would be hosting an
appreciation party for all the volunteers.

Bus Shelter Vandalism

The Mayor reported that Jeff Haedt, 2913 29th Avenue N.E.
had come in early that evening to talk to him about •
incidents he has witnessed over the years of vandalism to
the bus shelter on the corner of 29th and Silver Lake
Road. Mr. Haedt indicated he had owned his home for
eight years two of which it was rented out. During that
period the glass in the shelter -had been broken as least
as many times including being shot out -twice in July.
The Mayor indicated Mr. Urbia had reported the bus
company was not acknowledging that many incidents but had
said they would have someone out to repair the damage the
day he called them.

The Management Assistant told the Council the bus
shelters have always been prime targets for vandals . He
agreed to request the glass be replaced with plexiglass
from now on. Mr. Burt indicated that he hoped the fact
that the police had just caught some vandals shooting BB
pellets from sling shots, might alleviate the problem at
least for a while. Mr. Haedt said replacing the glass
with plexiglass and increasing police patrols in the area
might help.
