City Council Regular Meeting Minutes June 27, 1995 • Page 3 1 like a representative from the cities of St.Anthony,New Brighton, Arden Hills and 2 Shoreview. 3 Motion by Marks, second by Fleming to appoint Richard Enrooth as the official 4 representative to Twin City Arsenal. 5 Motion carried unanimously. 6 Ranallo reported the City has the plans for the Community Center. The School Board has 7 agreed to contribute $96,000 per year rental, $86,000 for the community service section 8 and $10,000 for the gym. The School Board has asked there be an open forum to discuss 9 these plans with the community. There was Council direction to place a copy of the plans 10 on a wall at City Hall and also have a copy available at the St. Anthony Library for 11 residents to view. Ranallo indicated the Sports Boosters will use the gym every night for 12 five months of the year and Community Service will use part of the gym during the day 13 for smaller programs. 14 Enrooth indicated he had met with the Sports Boosters last week and they have agreed to 15 contribute approximately $50,000 for the next five years. This figure is based on 42% of their total net profit. 17 B. Council. 18 Enrooth reported Village Fest plans are proceeding well. The Committee will meet 19 Thursday, June 27th and each Thursday thereafter until August 5th. 20 Ranallo stated Village Fest will include a golf tournament on Friday; family activities, 21 parade, entertainment, band and fireworks at dusk on Saturday; and Kiwani's pancake 22 breakfast on Sunday. 23 Marks reported the Sister City Committee is still working on preparations for the arrival 24 of the Lindquists on August 1, 1995. He invited anyone who would like to participate in 25 a group who will be meeting the Lindquists at the airport at 2:14 p.m. He reported there 26 is a picnic scheduled for August 4th which City Council and other various groups will be 27 invited to and dinner with the City Council is scheduled for August 1 st. It is also 28 anticipated the Lindquists will be making a trip to the North Shore. 29 Marks suggested Mr. Charles Glotzbach, who was Company Commander in World War 30 II, be honored in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Celebration. He indicated he 31 would distribute copies of a Newsweek article which was written regarding his service.
