Michael Morrison -2- October 2,2003
City of St.Anthony
If these items are accepted and agreed upon, the projects stand as follows:
• Public Works will be over budget by the$150,000.00 amount for the soil
conditions;
• Fire Station will be over budget by$250,000.00.
In light of this, the project team offers the following three options for the City Council's
consideration:
Option 1
Award Public Works with additional funding of$150,000.00 for the unsuitable soils. Redesign
and re-bid the Fire Station to meet the original budget.
This option will require a total project budget of$5,680,000.00.
Option 2'
Public Works will be subjected to further value engineering/cost reductions to fund the
$250,000.00 overage at the Fire Station. In addition, this option will still require the additional
funding of$150,000.00 for unsuitable soils.
This option will require a total budget of$5,680,000.00
Option 3
Award Public Works with additional funding of$150,000.00 for the unsuitable soils. The Fire
Station to be funded with an additional$250,000.00.
This option will require a total budget of$5,930,000.00.
Kraus-Anderson and Oertel Architects, along with City Staff, will present these options in more
detail at the City Council Meeting tonight.
Very truly yours,
KRAUS-ANDERSON®CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
WDn
Vice President
GDB:rh
c: Jeff Oertel,Oertel Architects%Jon M.Kuenstling, KAMW/Scott Johnson,KAMW
