RESOLUTION 76-016 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING MEMBERSHIP IN <br /> A SUBURBAN HENNEPIN COUNTY MUNICIPAL <br /> CORPORATION <br /> WHEREAS, Minneapolis and Hennepin County elected officials <br /> have both presented legislative programs to the Minnesota legislature; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, -many of the items contained in these proposals have <br /> the effect of having suburban communities absorb additional tax <br /> burdens; and <br /> WHEREAS, under recent legislation the intercity now enjoys the <br /> position of having suburban taxpayers subsidizing a sizeable part <br /> of their present tax burdens; and <br /> WHEREAS, an end must be put to indiscriminate sharing of the <br /> Minneapolis ' tax burdens -throughout Hennepin County; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of all Hennepin County <br /> 1 suburban municipalities to present a united front to ensure that <br /> this practice is not continued; and <br /> I <br /> WHEREAS, it is also in our best interests to keep a watchful <br /> eye on all related legislative 9 � proposals and day-to-day operations . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> that: <br /> 1 . We endorse the development of an unbiased comparative <br /> core city vs. suburban municipality tax study, including <br /> relative effects of all intergovernmental aids. <br /> 2. Lobby efforts in the 1977 Minnesota Legislature be <br /> undertaken concerning disparities in the distribution of <br /> shared tax- aids. <br /> 3 . We hereby support the coalition and its concept and <br /> appoint Duane R. Miedtke, 3016 Rankin Road-0-781-6868 <br /> H-789-2596 to represent our community. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that: <br /> 1. We wish to participate in the funding. in 1976 & 1977 <br /> operations (1/2 payable in .1976 and 1/2 payable in 1977) <br /> in an amount up to but not exceeding 5� per capita. <br /> 2 .
