• <br /> RESOLUTION 76 - 053 <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br /> TASK FORCE TO REVIEW GROUND WATER USAGE IN <br /> METROPOLITAN AREA . <br /> WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony and numerous other cities <br /> depend on deep wells for water supplies for their citizens and <br /> industry, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are either in <br /> the process or contemplating drilling wells to supplement their <br /> water supplies taken from surface sources, and <br /> WHEREAS, there are various other uses of ground water includ- <br /> ing irrigation and air conditioning, and <br /> WHEREAS, continued exploitation of this valuable resource could <br /> deplete or drastically reduce its availability <br /> • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City <br /> of St. Anthony does request that the Metropolitan Council create a <br /> task force to investigate the total usage of underground water in <br /> the metropolitan area and the possible consequences of continued un- <br /> disciplined use and evaluate methods to be initiated to preserve <br /> this valuable resource. <br /> Adopted this 21st day of December. <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: J <br /> Ci-y7Ci-fy7 Clerk <br /> 914', <br /> Cit anage <br />
