-3- <br /> 03JECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES GUIDELINES <br /> A. Undertake specific programs of public information regarding the statutory <br /> requirements of the Minnesota State Act Against Discrimination. <br /> 1 . Supply copies of the law to the housing industry and real estate <br /> dealers, to employers, and to purveyors of public accommodations and public <br /> services operating within St. Anthony Village. <br /> 2. Provide information concerning the law to Village residents. <br /> 3. Provide opportunities to discuss with residents the implications <br /> of the lave for the .Village via panel discussions involving representatives <br /> of business, dousing, education, and churches, and open to the public. <br /> B. Conduct with voluntary participation, studies and surveys of practices <br /> in the corimuni ty. <br /> C. Conduct preliminary investigation of complaints involving non-criminal <br /> (i .e., civil ) acts of discrimination, and, when possible, effect conciliation <br /> between parties involved. !dhen not possible, refer through the State Depart- <br /> ment of Human Rights in the manner agreed to in Section 4 Paragraph 5. <br /> 1 . Provide an atmosphere of understanding for both parties when <br /> effecting conciliation. <br /> 2. Organize the Committee members with assignments to handle complaints <br /> in each of the areas - housing, employment, public accommodations, education, <br /> •, and public services. <br /> D. Formulate programs to be developed with voluntary cooperation of employers, <br /> the housing industry, the educational institutions, and governmental agencies. <br /> 1 . Study voluntarily submitted proposals of job descriptions and test- <br /> ing practices. <br /> 2. Study voluntarily submitted proposals of other agencies outside of <br /> St. Anthony Village. <br /> 3. /assist the School Board and faculty of all Village Schools, public <br /> and private, to incorporate multi-ethnic educational materials into existing <br /> curriculum. <br /> 4. Study human relations practices currently being employed in other <br /> suburban areas. <br /> 5. Work with realtors to develop programs to comply with fair housing <br /> law. <br /> 6. Utilize local adult education facilities to make available citizen <br /> education in areas of human relations. <br /> 7. Provide the services of a Speakers Bureau for use by interested <br /> Village groups, utilizing but not restricted to Committee members knowledge- <br /> able in specific areas of concern and other local programs available through <br /> civic, private, and state sources. <br /> • <br /> 3 <br /> I <br />
