Anthony Village Police -Department <br /> 3301 Silver Lake Road <br /> St . .Anthony, 'MN 55418 <br /> Dear Don. <br /> I have enclosed a ' proposed Memorandum of Understanding <br /> which we. .b.elieve is in accordance with the provisions . o.f . <br /> Minnesota Laws of 1987 , Chapter . 295, and which we hope can <br /> be .quickly adopted by Hennepin . County School Districts and . <br /> Law Enforcement Agencies . <br /> The Memorandum has four objectives : <br /> . 1 . To expand the information that school districts and <br /> law enforcement agencies can share with one another <br /> concerning drug use by juveniles; <br /> • 2 . To allow school districts to have the first <br /> opportunity to deal with drug use by students; and <br /> 3 . To use Hennepin County Juvenile Court as the back- <br /> up to the school ' s effort -to deal with drug abuse <br /> on a voluntary basis . <br /> 4 . To ensure stiffer consequences for juveniles who <br /> use drugs and engage in othe.r criminal activity. <br /> We are very grateful for all the help we have received <br /> in drafting the enclosed proposal . Many school and law <br /> en=or&E` effL representatives ai:lended meetings, shared <br /> .information, and raised questions, all of which was <br /> invaluable to us . <br /> Your continued help is needed, huwever . Please review <br /> the enclosed Memorandum and determine whether your <br /> department can agree to its terms--I certainly hope this <br /> will be the ' case . - If you can, please communicate your <br /> support to the school superintendent for your community and <br /> to Sonya Steven, an assistant county attorney in our office - <br /> ( 348-7916 ) . We will ask you to sign the Memorandum once the <br /> Community School Advisory Team has taken supportive action. <br /> To assist in moving this process along, Sonya is available <br /> to meet with you, your officers or community representatives. <br /> . to discuss the Memorandum and to answer questions . <br /> HENNEPIN COUNTY IS AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER <br />
