ANTHONY <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> BUDGET WORK SESSION MINUTES <br /> September- 1, 1982 <br /> 8 :00 P .M. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 8 :03 P.M. <br /> Present: Sundland, Ranallo, Letourneau, Enrooth. <br /> Absent: Marks . <br /> Also present: David Childs , City Manager; Carol Johnson, Finance <br /> Director; and Donald Hickerson , Police Chief. <br /> Councilman Marks arrived at 8:_30 P.M. <br /> Discussions concerning the proposed Police Department budget commenced, <br /> with the following resulting: <br /> 1) Money for a new squad car will come from the Capital Equipment <br /> fund. <br /> 2) $500 will be added to the Police budget for Police Reserves <br /> uniforms, equipment, etc. <br /> 3) $800 additional, plus $1,200 from the computer fees (which are not <br /> • needed) will be for, a physical fitness program for-.Police officers . <br /> - A total of $1, 300 will be added to the Police Department budget <br /> over and above the amount proposed, per Council. <br /> The Animal Control budget was also discussed. The Council directed <br /> the following: <br /> 1) The possibility of using Police Reserves for patrolling the City <br /> for animals will -be studied and implemented. <br /> 2) Tickets will be issued to animal owners in violation of the City <br /> Ordinance pertaining to that subject. <br /> Lee Entner, Fire Chief, arrived at 8: 50 P.M. and discussions for the <br /> Civil Defense and Fire Department budgets commenced. <br /> Chief Entner explained the Civil Defense budget was increased because: <br /> 1) Correction on' allocation of Chief 's salary between Civil Defense <br /> and the Fire Department. <br /> 2) Siren conversion to radio activation at a cost of $4 ,000 . <br /> Chief Entner was asked to explain the need to purchase 10 air masks <br /> which was noted in the Capital Equipment fund. He informed. the Council <br /> • the request was made due to a OSHA regulation requirement that <br /> pressure/demand masks be utilized by July , 1983 . <br />
