CALL TO ORDER. <br /> The Council Work Session to interview prospective candidates for the vacancy on the City <br /> Council began at 5:00 PM. <br /> II. ROLL CALL. <br /> Present: Mayor Cavanaugh, Councilmembers Thuesen, Horst, and Sparks. <br /> Absent: None. <br /> Also present: City Manager Michael Mornson; City Clerk Connie Kroeplin <br /> III. CONDUCT INTERVIEWS FOR NEW COUNCILM EMBER. <br /> The Mayor and Councilmembers interviewed the candidates to fill the Council vacancy, <br /> commencing at 5:00 PM. Each candidate was allotted 15 minutes to answer Council's <br /> questions, ask questions of Councilmembers and respond to any additional questions <br /> 41 Councilmembers asked. <br /> There were seven scheduled interviews. Candidates and the order of their interviews were: <br /> Matthew Lundgren; Jaime Hunt (did not appear for the interview); Mary Rockwood; Randy <br /> Hodson; Jerry Faust; Dr. Rick Carlson; and Jim Roth. The candidates were asked the <br /> following questions by the Councilmembers: <br /> • Why do you want to be on the Council? <br /> • What do you see as the role of City government? <br /> • Are there any projects or directions which you would like the Council to pursue during <br /> the next two years? <br /> • Why should we appoint you over the other candidates? <br /> In addition, Councilmember Sparks asked the candidates about their voluntary community <br /> involvement and Councilmember Horst asked about their feelings relating to other <br /> governmental bodies, i.e., the Planning and Parks Commissions. <br /> IV. DISCUSSION. <br /> Following the interviews the Mayor and Council discussed the candidates. <br /> V. ADJOURNMENT. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 7:20 PM to begin the regular Council meeting. <br />
