Mr. Westberg pointed out that there were several groups of parochial
school children who participated in planned day activities in the camp
now and he perceived the staff would welcome the same type of activities
for school children in the St. Anthony/New Brighton School District as
well.
The Camp Director told Commissioner Brownell the new buildings would
have wood construction with rough cedar siding. The administration
building would also have natural rock trim. The architect had even
changed the construction of the maintenance building from steel to wood
frame to better fit into the natural environment of the camp. The goal
is to put all utilities underground to provide better visuals of the
camp. He promised to bring the plans to staff as soon as they are
available from the architect.
Commission Recommendation
Motion by Werenicz, seconded by Franzese to recommend Council approval
of the long range building plans for land use and facilities development
contained in the Salvation Army's Master Plan for the Silver Lake Camp
in St. Anthony.
