PLA.11NI NG BOARD MINUTES <br /> Vi 1 lao� cf St. Anthony <br /> movamber 18, 3963 <br /> The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 7: 30 P.M. <br /> Present: Dougherty, Rocks, Skovran, Ros4rek, Coulter, Hansen, DiCarlo <br /> Absent: None <br /> 1 . Merrill Stenglein_ presented a request to, consteuct an old age nursing <br /> home at 3153 Highway #8. The proposed structure would house 100 beds. After <br /> examination of the proposed plans it was moved by DiCarlo, seconded by Rocks to <br /> deny the request on the following basis: <br /> 1 . Property on a!hich the building is proposed is zoned light industrial <br /> which would not permit this type of development.2.Rezoning said property <br /> would result in spot zoning which is not a common practice of the Planning <br /> Board. 3. The proposed development is not compatible with the surround- <br /> ing light industrial zoning. <br /> Upon vote being taken, all the members of the Board voted in favor of the foregoing <br /> motion. Motion carried. <br /> 2. Plans for the construction of a building in the St. Anthony Industrial <br /> Park for use by Toledo Scale Co. were examined. The building is to be a 4200 square <br /> foot structure and will be used as a district sales and warehouse area. <br /> Moved by OiCarlo, seconded by Hansen to approve the proposed plans with the sugges- <br /> tion that the building be faced with brick to match adjacent building. of Aro <br /> Industries. All in favor, motion carried. <br /> 3. Arthur G. Lowell presented a petition requesting a variance in zoning on <br /> Tract D, Registered Land Survey #1063 and also, that part of the West 163 feet of <br /> the' South 1/3 of the Northwest 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 lying North of the South <br /> 425.4 feet thereof in Section 6, Township 29, Range 23. It was moved by Rosinek, <br /> seconded by Hansen, to hold a public hearing on the rezoning as requested and also, <br /> possible rezoning of adjacent non-conforming use lots. A hearing will be held on <br /> Monday, December 16, 1963 at 7: 30 P.M. in the St. Anthony Village Hall . The <br /> Secretary is instructed to publish and mail notice as required by the State law. <br /> All in favor, motion carried. <br /> 4. Mr. R.E. Bayne, of the Mpls. Star and Tribune, appeared with a request <br /> for construction of a distribution station at 33rd and Stinson Blvd.. The station <br /> is to be located directly behind Jerry's Food Market on Lot 17, Block 3, Clark and <br /> Kings Hennepin Gardens. The station will be used as a pickup point for local route <br /> carriers. It was moved by DiCarlo, seconded by Coulter to approve the distribution <br /> station providing the area immediately around the station be black-topped and also, <br /> that bike racks be installed for use by the local carriers. <br /> All in favor, motion carried. <br /> 5. Doh Green, Emil Novack and Dave Speer appenread representing the Century <br /> Capital Corporation regarding tha develepment of their property located at 33rd <br /> Ave. N.E. and Stinson Blvd.. the purpose of their appearance wns to explore the <br /> O possibility of further consideration for the development of the property as pre- <br /> viously proposed. The Chairman of the Board stated that no action could be taken <br /> until a subsequent proposal with some modifications from the original proposal was <br /> submitted to the Board. The Chairman did, however, siiggest that the de veiepers <br /> arrange a meeting with the property owners in the area for the purpose of arriving <br />
