i r
7
-2-
1 to extend existing breezeway six feet west to bring it into alignment
i2 with garage structure.
3
4 Proponents: Mr. Parmelee and neighbor Donald Kraft (2504 St. Anthony
5 Boulevard) - telephone message-.
6
7 Opponents: none.
8
g Staff input: ordinance setback requirements for eaves apply only to outbuildings
10 and not to major structures. The proposed five foot, three inch
11 separation would therefore meet those requirements.
12
13 Applicant's Response to Commissioners' Questions
14
15 .there would be no further setback encroachment with the addition;
16 .curbings already in place for double garage;
17
18 .existing three car garage built with City permit in 1976;
19 .structure used for hobby of collecting and restoring old cars, not for resale;
20
21 .omitted the structure from the first sketch because he misunderstood it had
22 any bearing on the variance;
23 .having difficulty negotiating the disposal of the pickup truck parked
24 between structures with the savings and loan company, but hoped to be able
25 to do so soon;
26
27 .gave assurances that he would not be stacking wood or metal between two
28 garage structures after the new addition is completed.
29
30 Commissioner Hansen's main concern was that the five foot gap between structures
31 be maintained as promised by the applicant, citing the staff's inability to
32 enforce conditions related to signage for the Nativity Lutheran Church for
33 the past two months.
34
35 Hearing closed at 7:47 P.M.
36
37 Commission Recommends Approval with Conditions
38
39 Motion by Werenicz, seconded by Hansen to recommend the Council grant an 11 foot
40 variance to the Ordinance requirement for 30 foot sideyard setbacks to Robert L.
41 Parmelee which would allow him to add another stall to the existing attached
42 garage and to extend the existing breezeway on the home at 2501 Pahl Avenue N.E.
43 six feet further west to bring it into alignment with the garage, on the con-
44 dition that:
45
46 1 . The five foot, three inch gap between the garage and the building used for
47 storing automobiles the owner renovates and collects, be maintained with
48 construction and afterwards by removing the overhang on the outbuilding,
49 if necessary; and
50
51 2. The pickup truck parked on the property be disposed of.
52
-53 In recommending the variance be granted the Commission finds that:
54
55 a. the applicant had answered all three questions in the application in the
56 affirmative as required by statute;
