Selection of Sponsor for New Planning Commission Member

Chairman Faust had requested this item be included on the
agenda. His purpose is for the newly-appointed member of
the Planning Commission to have someone on the Commission
act as his/her mentor. He recalled when he was appointed,
he found the assistance of the Assistant to the City
Manager very helpful . This mentor. would act as a
"welcomer" to the Commission and help in bringing him/her
up to speed on the business of the Commission.

Madden.felt this mentor may influence the newly-appointed
member. Murphy felt Dave Urbia could be very helpful by
reviewing past activities of the Commission and by going
over the procedures of a typical meeting.

Madden felt the Planning Commission Chair could serve as
a mentor. Chairman Faust indicated his willingess to do
this .

Weren.icz stated he had not felt that new appoi-ntees have
been reticent to participate and that a mentor was not
really necessary if the Chair was willing to acclimate
the appointee to the procedures .

S53 Urbia noted that no applications for the Planning
Commission appointment have been received.
